Inspiration

My first impression of the Old Telephone Exchange is the foyer with the beautiful carvings. The foyer holds the history of the building with wooden floors, arched ceiling and a grand staircase. As you enter the foyer your eyes are drawn to the carved faces placed on the pillars. On the left hand side is a man making a call, at the centre is a cluster of female carvings taking the call and on the far right is the man receiving the call. The carvings are enchanting and on my second visit to the archive I was interested in the women who worked at the Telephone Exchange.
